3 April 2026 marked the successful completion of the REHDA Youth Urban Regeneration Tour 2026, an exclusive and immersive experience designed to provide participants with first-hand insights into the transformation and revitalisation of urban spaces.
The tour commenced at Sentul Depot, a notable example of adaptive reuse where a former railway workshop has been transformed into a vibrant cultural and event space. Participants attended a presentation by Mrs. Karen Tan, Senior Manager, Customer Relations, and Mr. Bryan Wong, Sales & Marketing Executive of YTL Land & Development Berhad. The session highlighted the challenges and opportunities of preserving heritage elements while introducing new functions that revitalise legacy assets.
The group then proceeded to The Campus Ampang, where participants were introduced to placemaking and community-driven regeneration. The session by Mr. Martin R. Haeger, Director of HL Architecture, and Mr. Chris Yee Kean Yong, Director of Asset 1 Land Sdn Bhd provided valuable insights into the design philosophy behind the space, highlighting how adaptive reuse, spatial planning, and curated environments contribute to creating a vibrant lifestyle and social hub.
The final stop was The Five @ KPD, where participants explored a contemporary approach to urban regeneration through mixed-use development. The sharing by Mr. Brian Newman, Director of Selangor Properties Sdn Bhd, and Mr. Shin Tseng from Urban Agenda offered perspectives on development strategy, positioning, and the transformation of underutilised land into a dynamic and future-ready urban environment.
The tour concluded with meaningful networking among participants. The positive engagement and discussions throughout the day underscored the importance of knowledge-sharing and exposure to real-world regeneration projects.
